DR. MARIO ALCANTARA

Dr. Mario Alcantara specializes in Colon & Rectal Surgery, and his expertise in the field is often relied upon in complex cases throughout central and south Texas. His exhaustive work in the treatment of fecal incontinence has helped thousands of patients who have greatly benefited from his knowledge and his implementation of cutting-edge technology. Dr. Alcantara’s twenty-plus years in medicine have positioned him as the go-to surgeon whom many physicians have relied on, personally.  

Dr. Alcantara was born and raised in a small town in South Texas and attended medical school at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. He completed his surgical training at St. Vincent’s through New York Medical College, and his General Surgery residency in Akron, Ohio. After too many blustery winters up north, he returned to his Texas roots in 2007, welcoming warmer weather and his love for coastal fishing. Dr. Alcantara is an avid outdoorsman and he and his wife have three amazing daughters.

DR. JAME CONNAUGHTON, MD

Dr. J. Chris Connaughton holds dual board certifications in general surgery and colorectal surgery. During his five years as a staff colon and rectal surgeon at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Dr. Connaughton was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. He has extensive experience in minimally invasive colon and rectal surgery for cancer and inflammatory bowel disease, and the evaluation and treatment of constipation and fecal incontinence.

DR. JAIME MAYORAL

Dr. Jaime Mayoral was born in Dixon, California. He earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of California at Davis. He then went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1985 and completed his General Surgery Residency in 1993. Additionally, Dr. Mayoral completed fellowships in Surgical Infectious Disease in 1991, Laparoscopic Surgery in 1994 and Colon and Rectal Surgery in 1995. Dr. Mayoral is board certified, and a fellow, in both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Mayoral has been published in various medical journals, and takes great pleasure in the missionary work he is able to do in Mexico. As a former member of the United States Army Reserve, Dr. Mayoral achieved the rank of Colonel and served in Afghanistan, Bosnia, and Iraq. He is also fluent in Spanish which allows him to effectively communicate and treat Spanish speaking patients.
